Chocolate manufacturer Barry Callebaut AG has announced the appointment of Isabelle Esser as its chief human resources officer, effective 1 February 2019.
She will also be a member of the company’s executive committee and report to the chief executive officer, Antoine de Saint-Affrique.
Commenting on the appointment de Saint-Affrique, said, “Isabelle Esser has a proven track record as a change agent with a clear business focus and has demonstrated her ability to build strong relationships with business leaders across an organization.
“Isabelle’s understanding of global businesses and experience in developing high-performing teams will be key to fueling our future growth because we can only grow the company as fast as we grow our people.”
An Industry Veteran
Presently, Esser is the executive vice-president of research and development in foods transformation in Unilever’s global foods and refreshment division.
She has more than 25 years of experience in various leadership roles in innovation and research and development of food, home, and personal care businesses of Unilever.
Esser holds a degree in civil engineering in chemistry and materials science from Louvain-La-Neuve University in Belgium, and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Birmingham University in the UK.
