The Belgian competition authority, Conseil de la Concurrence, is investigating suspected price-fixing between seven leading Belgian retailers and 11 providers of household goods and health & beauty products.
According to Planet Retail, local media is reporting that Carrefour, Colruyt and Delhaize Group are among the retailers under investigation, while the Belgian arm of German giant Beiersdorf is also reputed to be involved.
The price-fixing is said to have taken place from 2002-2007 and have generated a market volume of up to €900 million annually. (5 Oct)
