Bosnia & Herzegovina Gets New Supermarket Chain

A new supermarket chain, launched by local retailer Tropic, has commenced operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Crvena Jabuka Market has opened its first store in Kakanj's Real Shopping Mall.

The space was previously occupied by Croatian grocery chain Konzum.

Wide Range Of Options

The new supermarket is spread across an area of more than 2,000 square metres, and offers an assortment of over 15,000 products.

Customers also have the option to taste around 50 different ready-to-eat dishes, on a daily basis.

According to Tropic, the idea is to offer consumers an ambience that combines the experience of visiting a supermarket, a traditional market, and a restaurant.

A customer loyalty program, Klub Osmijeha, will offer extra savings to members, while pensioners will enjoy a 10% discount on their grocery shopping every Monday.

Presence In The Country

According to the most recent data, Tropic had 56 stores in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the 39 stores it purchased in 2014 from Belgian retailer Delhaize after its exit from the market.

Last year, Tropic announced that it was interested in taking over the local operations of Slovenian retail chain, Mercator. Recent media reports indicate that the negotiations are still ongoing.
