Carrefour Aims For Nationwide Presence In Poland
Carrefour is aiming for a nationwide presence in Poland through the implementation of a €61-million expansion project throughout 2016, RetailAnalysis.IGD.com reports.
Of the capital to be invested, €37 million will be pumped into revamping and enlarging stores – an ongoing project that began in 2014.
The new outlets will operate under Carrefour’s own banners and those of its subsidiaries. In 2015, it opened 120 convenience outlets, two supermarkets and a single new hypermarket.
It finished the year with 573 convenience stores, 84 hypermarkets and 139 supermarkets.
eCarrefour, its online service in Poland, may begin selling food in the future, with a click-and-collect service undergoing trial in Krakow. At present, the retailer only sells non-food items such as electronics, cameras and phones through its online portal.
