Carrefour France To Generate Green Energy In Association With Urbasolar

French retail giant Carrefour has announced that it has partnered with photovoltaic specialist Urbasolar to generate green energy for its stores.

The move, which is a first in the French retail sector, aims to speed up the group's energy transition goals.

The project will involve the installation of solar panels in the car parks of 36 Carrefour hypermarkets in France.

Clean, Green Energy

Every year, these photovoltaic panels will generate a total of 21,000 MWh of renewable green energy, for Carrefour's own use.

The electricity generated will be equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 4,600 households, excluding heating.

It will also reduce the retailer's annual carbon dioxide emissions by 210 tonnes.

The initiative is a part of the group's aim to diversify its energy sources, and develop future-proof solutions for energy autonomy in Carrefour stores.
