Carrefour Romania Opens 33rd Hypermarket

Carrefour Romania has opened its 33rd hypermarket in the newly-opened Râmnicu Vâlcea City shopping centre.

Located in the south of the country, the new store offers 7471 square-metres of sales area with 300 employees and 50,000 items. The shopping centre hosts 33 stores in total.

The new hypermarket is open from Monday to Sunday 8 am to 10 pm and hosts 27 checkouts, including four automatic ones, 1000 parking spaces and free Wi-Fi.

Technological Advancement

The retailer first trialled self-service checkouts at its Carrefour Baneasa hypermarket in the capital city Bucharest last August.

Carrefour said that this modern and welcoming store offers many services to its customers, such as Apple Pay, the Carrefour app, tickets for events, warranty extensions and more.

The Romanian outlet of the French retail giant now has 311 stores, including the 33 hypermarkets, which tallies at 13 new stores for 2017.
