Carrefour Trials Workplace Click-And-Collect Points In Belgium

Carrefour is trialling click-and-collect points on the premises of two Belgian companies – its first such effort, and a template that it may seek to expand in the future.

Retail Week reported that the retailer's installations, in the facilities of Radio Télévision Belge Francophone, and Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie, are designed to allow employees of the broadcasters to avoid rush-hour congestion, which in the Belgian capital, Brussels, is considerable.

The premise is that they can purchase their Carrefour produce (of which over 7,500 lines are available) on the Internet and then simply collect it directly outside their building after work.

A larger-scale implementation of this may be effected by Carrefour if the trial run proves a success. In a statement, it said, “This is the first time that Carrefour is implanted directly within a company, but contacts are under way with other firms."
