Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) has announced that it will team up with Loop Industries to purchase 100% recycled PET (rPET) plastic in order to accelerate the use of recycled materials in product packaging.
CCEP’s chief supply chain officer, Ron Lewis, called it an "important investment" that is in line with the company’s sustainability action plan - This is Forward.
'Holistic Strategy'
Lewis added, "As part of This is Forward, we’ve committed to ensuring that at least 50% of the material we use for our PET bottles comes from recycled plastic by 2025.
"This is part of a holistic strategy focused on creating a more circular packaging economy."
CCEP aims to introduce Loop rPET in its product packaging by early 2020, which supports its global vision to work toward a 'World Without Waste.'
Loop Industries produces new sources of high-quality rPET by implementing enhanced technologies that overcome recyclability obstacles.
