Coca-Cola Partners In Spain To Close Four Bottling Plants

Management at Coca-Cola Iberian Partners (CCIP) have confirmed a new restructuring plan that will result in the closure of four out of 11 Coca-Cola bottling plants in Spain. CCIP have not confirmed which plants are to close, but a final decision is expected next month.

The plan will affect almost 1,200 employees and has drawn criticism from the European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions (EFFAT), which has called for the company to engage in productive discussion with trade unions.

In a statement, CCIP said the restructuring aimed to integrate separate business structures, allowing the company to operate as a "more agile, efficient and competitive company." In addition, "internal relocations or early retirements will be offered" in an attempt to reduce the overall amount of redundancies.
