Bringing a new meaning to 'best served ice cold', Coca Cola has launched a novelty bottle in Colombia this summer which is made entirely from ice.
Promising “Fria hasta la ultima gota” or “Cold to the last drop,” the frozen bottles have proved popular in beachside locations in South America.
To make the special edition Coca-Cola bottles a reality, Ogilvy & Mather Columbia innovation teams created a new packaging design and production process to manufacture the ice bottles and transport them to hot Colombia beaches.
The bottles are made by pouring micro-filtered water into silicone molds, then freezing the water to-25 °C and filling the moulds with Coke. To ensure consumers don't suffer from cold fingers, each bottle is wrapped with a rubber Coke-logoed, red band that allows the drinker to hold the bottle with comfort. Once the bottle has melted, the band doubles up as a keepsake bracelet that fans can wear. (1 July)
