Colruyt Announces Extension Of Scan. Pay. Go. Platform

Belgium's Colruyt Group has announced that it will be rolling out its Scan. Pay. Go. app to more stores, following a successful trial period, which concluded in June.

From this month, customers will now be able to pay using the app at Okay stores in De Pinte, Pepingen and Ohey, as well as at the OKay Compact store at Grootsermentstraat in Brussels.

The service enables shoppers to 'carry out their shopping quickly and easily', the retailer said, by enabling them to scan products as they make their way around the store, and pay without the need to visit the checkout. Special digital scales will also be installed to weigh loose products such as fruit and vegetables.

Traditional tills will also still be available in the stores where the new system is being rolled out.

Quickly, Easily, Cheaply

"This new application fits perfectly with the OKay brand promise of being able to shop quickly, cheaply and easily," said Michon van Doorn, marketing manager at OKay. "Customers at our trial stores have two ways of paying, as we have kept our usual manned tills, so they have the flexibility they need to do their shopping”.

The new service will be rolled out to OKay De Pinte on 22 August, with the remainder of the stores following a week later.

The Scan. Pay. Go. app is marketed in stores with the slogan 'No Queue For Me', and is aligned with Xtra, Colruyt's loyalty programme. Once the transaction is completed, users can pay vat their existing online banking app, or via the Bancontact app.

“Specially trained staff are also on hand to help customers if they have any questions or problems with Scan. Pay. Go.," van Doorn added.
