Colruyt’s OKay Store In Meise To Reopen After Renovation

Belgian retailer Colruyt group has announced that its OKay convenience store in Meise in Belgium will reopen for customers on 5 December.

The modernised store is 200 square metres larger than its older version, and includes an overhauled area for fruit and vegetables, a new bakery, and new freezers.

Store manager, Wouter Hellinckx, said, “Over the years, we have built up a loyal base of customers who value our wide range of products, our friendly staff and the lowest prices in the area. Naturally, we intend to continue this in our updated store.”

Redesigned For Convenience

The checkout area has been redesigned to make more space for customers and their shopping carts. An extra till has also been added for customers’ convenience.

The outlet also features an ‘easy cooking’ counter to help customers find all the ingredients required to prepare a quick and easy meal.

The store will offer a range of fresh loaves of bread, and high-quality cakes and rolls prepared in the new in-house bakery.

Eco-Friendly Store

The store has implemented a number of measures to minimise its environmental impact, which includes a 'green roof' to purify the air.

The conventional boiler has been replaced with a heating system that utilises the residual heat from the cooling system, which uses propane as a fuel. This, in turn, has the potential to cut down CO2 emissions by almost 90%, compared to a traditional refrigeration system.

The outlet has also implemented LED lighting, which reduces energy consumption by 30%, along with provisions for rainwater harvesting.
