Italian Retailers Mobilise To Support Flood-Affected Venice

Italian retailers including Coop Alleanza 3.0, Pam Panorama and Conad have all committed to supporting the cleanup operation in Venice, after the city was affected by its worst flooding in more than 50 years.

Three of the worst ten floods since records began hit Veneto last week, with landmark areas such as St Mark's Square closed off, and countless shops and businesses affected.

Coop Commitment

Between today (20 November) and next Tuesday, Coop Alleanza 3.0 said that it will donate 1% of the sale of all own-brand products, up to a total sum of €500,000, will be donated to Venice.

The retailer had already committed to a donation of €100,000 as part of its '1 x tutti 4 x te' (1 x all 4 x you) initiative, a form of rebate that returns part of the proceeds of the sale of own-brand products to members and territories.

Coop's campaign will be rolled out across some 1,100 stores.

A Single Heart For Venice

Elsewhere, under a campaign dubbed 'Un unico cuore per Venezia' (A single heart for Venice), Pam Panorama has also launched an initiative that will see a portion of the sale of its own-brand products donated to the city.

As part of the campaign, 5% of the sale of its Pam Panorama private label products will be donated to the city between now and December 31, to a maximum value of €500,000.

'We are waiting for you in our stores, so you too can contribute to Venice,' the retailer said in a statement.

Last week, Italian retailer Conad announced that it would donate 10 cent from every receipt issued at its nine stores in the Veneto region, to the cleanup operation. Conad's campaign runs from 16 November to 30 November.

Fashion retailer Ovs has also pledged to donate 20% of the proceeds from sales at its 12 stores in the Veneto region to the city.
