Portuguese hypermarket chain Continente has introduced a virtual navigation platform on its e-commerce channel.
In order to encourage consumers to experiment with this new functionality, Continente Online will feature an exclusive offer, hidden somewhere in the virtual store, which will be available until 31 December 2017.
To find it, users have to explore the space and contents available on the online store.
Panorama View
The new platform uses 'Panorama View' technology, which gives users a 360-degree view of the store, with the ability to travel through the site with a few clicks, much like Google Street View.
Using the service, consumers can access product information such as nutritional data, recipes, conservation tips and videos by selecting the 'circles' that appear next to certain fixtures.
Virtual browsing is for the moment confined to the area of fresh products, but its extension to other areas is anticipated in the near future, the company said.
