Portuguese hypermarket chain Continente has started delivering baskets of fresh produce to the home, as part of its Continente Online service.
The service is available in Lisbon, but the plan is to extend it to other areas of the country very soon. To encourage use of the service, orders placed until 2 February have a Super Price discount of 25%.
The offer is made up of six different baskets of products: vegetables, fruits of the season, fruits and vegetables, meat, premium seafood and seafood. The products are selected by members of the Continente Producers' Club and are changed weekly.
Deliveries of the baskets are made on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, depending on when the order is completed, and they can even be scheduled to occur every week.
The size of the baskets varies, depending on the type of products ordered, but they are enough for two people.
Before ordering, consumers can consult online information about the producers that supply the products, such as their origin and history.
