Coop Danmark Invests €13 Million In LED Lighting

Coop Danmark has announced plans to invest DKK 100 million (around €13.4 million) in LED lighting for its 1,200 stores in Denmark.

The retailer says that around 500,000 bulbs and fluorescent lights will be replaced across its store network, which will reduce the company's energy consumption by 20% in 2020 compared to 2014.

Renovations

The renovations are set to begin immediately and are expected to be completed by the end of 2018. The new lighting will be installed in all Coop stores, including Kvickly, SuperBrugsen, Dagli´Brugsen, Fakta and Irma.

"The scope of the contract is estimated to be around DKK 100 million," said Coop energy manager Peter Kjærgaard Svendsen. "Perhaps this is the largest single LED contract in Denmark, and perhaps the whole of the Nordic region."

"With the chosen solution, we will not only generate a huge energy saving, we will also lift the customer experience in the stores," he added.
