Continente Offers Home Delivery to Senior Customers
Portuguese retail group Sonae MC has extended the benefits it offers to senior customers as part of its COVID-19 contingency plans.
The retailer has announced that customers aged 70 years and over will longer pay for its home delivery services, which are available in 71 Continente Bom Dia stores and 26 Continente stores.
Senior citizens could already avail of priority entrance at Continente stores, as well as at checkouts and counters, a privilege that is granted throughout the day, rather than at a specific time.
The retailer has also introduced dedicated advice for elderly customers, to help them be positive and healthy, which can be accessed via the brand's Facebook page.
Meanwhile, the Continente Siga App has recorded an 80% growth in transactions since the beginning of the pandemic.
This project, which is the result of a partnership with Shelf.AI, helps customers prepare purchases by creating lists on a user's smartphone (through voice, text and barcode reading), and assists with the purchasing process via a smartphone camera.
Customers can pay on their mobile phones, using Continente Pay, or at exclusive checkouts in the participating stores.
The app also allows the sharing of lists and shopping carts with other family members, in real-time - further reducing the time needed to make purchases. Customers can also use the app to check out promotions and to use discount coupons.
