NorgesGruppen Prioritises Norwegian Fruit And Vegetables

Norwegian retailer Norgesgruppen has said that it will 'prioritise' the sale of local fruit and vegetables in its stores this year, in order to show its support for the country's farming sector in the face of COVID-19.

Norgesgruppen said that it was making the move after suggestions that farmers were in for a challenging year, both in terms of scarcity of labour but also a lessening of sales channels due to the coronavirus.

"NorgesGruppen's chains need a great deal of the Norwegian fruit and vegetables that can be produced this year, so my message to fruit and vegetable producers all over the country is that they should sow and plant as planned," commented Runar Hollevik, CEO of NorgesGruppen (pictured).

"We want to prioritise Norwegian fruits and vegetables," he added.

Norgesgruppen referenced recent survey that showed that shoppers seek out Norwegian products in-store where possible.
