Multicedi To Open 100 Stores Over Two Years

Italian retail group Multicedi is planning to open around 100 new stores over the next two years.

The group, which saw its network of supermarkets grow from 132 to 400 outlets over the past ten years of operation, also doubled turnover during the same period.

According to director general Giandomenico Barbano, having introducing the brand in Sicily and Calabria (in partnership with Fratelli Arena), the intention is now to continue expanding to cover other regions of Italy.

Barbano announced that the new business strategy involves “repositioning the company on different markets in a completely different way, location by location, square by square, according to the type of the individual market".

Barbano added that the strategy includes partnerships with local entrepreneurs.

Multicedi is currently present in eight regions of south and central Italy, operating under three insignia: Decò (four formats - Maxistore, Supermarket, Market and Superfreddo), AdHoc Cash & Carry and Ayoka (pet store). Multicedi is part of the Végé convenience network, which boasts over 1,450 outlets.
