Bushmills Whiskey To Double Production
The production rate of Irish whiskey Bushmills is set to “effectively” double following the decision of its Mexican controlling company, Jose Cuervo, to inject at least £30 million (approximately €41 million) into a new distillery, thedrinksbusiness.com reports.
The money will be poured into the Irish facility in increments of £3 million (around €4 million) over the next ten to 15 years, Jose Cuervo has said. Some of this capital will be used to construct a tourist centre, which will allow visitors to explore the processes and history of Bushmills' production.
The Mexican drinks multinational, which purchased the Irish whiskey brand from Diageo last year, controls a number of whiskey and tequila brands, including its flagship Jose Cuervo Tequila.
