Codorniu Expands In Rioja
Codorniu, the Spanish wine group, is to increase its territorial presence in Rioja, the most famous wine region in Spain.

This will be effected through Bodegas Bilbainas, a company in which it owns a majority, and thus is an effective subsidiary. The acquisition puts 30 hectares of vineyards into the company's possession, which are next to land already in the possession of Bodegas Bilbainas.

Tempranillo will be primary grape variety grown, though Garnacha and Graciano will also be produced.

Codorniu's CEO Javier Pages stated, "'In terms of acquisitions, this will be the most important one this year."
