Pernod Ricard has announced the appointment of Ann Mukherjee as the new chairperson and chief executive of Pernod Ricard North America, effective 2 December 2019.

Mukherjee will also join the group's executive committee, the drinks giant said.

Presently, Mukherjee is the chief commercial officer of SC Johnson, a global manufacturer of household and professional products.

She will replace Paul Duffy, who has stepped down from the role to return to Ireland.

Commenting on Duffy's departure, Alexandre Ricard, chairman, and chief executive of Pernod Ricard said, "Paul will be remembered as one of our management team members who accompanied the growth of our group over the last 25 years."

She worked for Kraft Foods Group and PepsiCo in New York before joining SC Johnson in November of 2015 as the company's first global chief marketing officer.

She has received many honours throughout her career, including 'Marketer of the Year' by Brand Week. She also made it into the Forbes Top 50 most influential chief marketing officers list.

Elsewhere, chairman and chief executive of Pernod Ricard Winemakers, Bruno Rain, has stepped down from the position after 32 years with the company.

Ricard added, "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bruno for his commitment and contribution to the Group over the past 32 years. He has played a key role in the group’s development, both in senior positions at group headquarters and leading market and brand companies."

Bryan Fry, the managing director of Pernod Ricard Pacific, will replace Bruno on 2 December 2019.
