First Eataly Emporium Opens In Scandinavia

Italian food and wine emporium Eataly opened its first store in Scandinavia on Thursday, partnering with Coop Denmark.

The 2,000 metre-square space will be located within the historic Illum department store in downtown Copenhagen.

Eataly will offer a 'full Italian experience' with three themed restaurants, a Lavazza cafe, a Venchi ice cream and chocolate corner, and the Rudo bar, the first restaurant in the world with organic certification to be awarded a Michelin Star.

The market will host over 3,000 artisanal Italian products, including handmade pasta, pastries, coffee and tea, dried pastas, sauces and olive oil, with a special focus on organic products. Eataly will also offer more than 300 Italian cheeses and meats as well as a section entirely dedicated to Italian wine, beers and liqueurs, consisting of more than 800 labels. In addition, there will be a cooking school on site.

Eataly will also open a 4,000 metre-square store in Boston on November 29, located in the Prudential Centre in the historic Back Bay District. This will be followed by new stores in Trieste and Doha by year’s end. Planned openings in 2017 include Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Toronto, Stockholm, Brussels, Johannesburg and Moscow.

Eataly currently has 27 stores worldwide and should end 2016 with a turnover of over €400 million (20% more compared to 2015).
