Edeka ‘Spare Change’ Initiative Supports Children And Youth Hospice

Following an initiative that saw employees donate the cents after the decimal point of their monthly pay to a good cause, the employees of Edeka Offenburg (Germany) have presented a cheque worth €2,000 to 'Children and Youth Hospice Ortenau'.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of his colleagues, a spokesperson for Edeka said, “What the Children and Youth Hospice achieves is really admirable and we are delighted to contribute this donation".

The Ortenau Children and Youth Hospice - established in 2012 - offers counseling, assistance and care to children and young people coping with severe, life-shortening or terminal illness as well as children who have suffered the loss of a parent or are orphaned. It equally supports the families of the people in their care.

German retailer Edeka has branches throughout Germany and currently employs more than 43,000 people.
