Lactalis To Buy Arla Foods’ Shares In EGM Walhorn

Lactalis, the largest dairy group in the world, is to increase its 51-per-cent stake in the Belgian cooperative EGM Walhorn, after Arla Foods, the world’s sixth-largest dairy firm, agreed to sell all of its 49-per-cent share to the France-based giant, LSA reports.

Arla Foods, which has owned the stake since August 2014, will formerly sell it to Lactalis on 30 June of this year. After this date, Arla will work with Walhorn in the different capacity of producing 100 million kilogrammes of milk annually for it.

Walhorn’s 800 milk members, who produce in excess of 550 million kilogrammes of milk per year, (located in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands)  will not be affected by the change in ownership.
