El Corte Inglés Joins AMS Buying Group

Spanish retailer El Corte Inglés is to join AMS Sourcing, one of Europe's largest buying alliances for food retailers, from January 2013.

With the new addition, the Netherlands-based buying group will have 14 retail members covering 28 European countries. El Corte Inglés is set to join major European grocery retailers Ahold, Delhaize, ICA, Migros, Morrisons, Kesko and Esselunga, among others.

Bert Swartsenburg, AMS managing director, said, "We are more than happy to welcome El Corte Inglés into our buying alliance. Their extra buying volume, unique knowledge and expertise in both food- and non food retailing and sourcing will be of great mutual value for AMS and its members."

ESM will have an exclusive in-depth interview with Bert Swartsenburg in our September/October issue.
