Emté, the supermarket division of Dutch group Sligro, is to install self-scanning systems in 30 outlets.
The retail chain will roll-out the MY-Scan system with Centric and local self-scanning specialist Re-Vision with hand-held scanners from Motorola. It is expected that the stores will be kitted out with the equipment by summer.
Emté commercial director Johan van Heerebeek said the roll-out follows successful trials at three stores where the reaction was "fantastic" but that the supermarkets will keep traditional checkouts also.
Mobile scanning is also to be introduced shortly. (30 April)
