Snack Consumption Expected To Increase By 15% In Spain During Euro 2016

The consumption of different categories of appetisers and snacks is expected to grow by up to 15 per cent in Spain during Euro 2016, according to the Association of Manufacturers of Appetiser Products (AFAP).

As reported on europapress.es, the AFAP base its figures on data gathered during Euro 2012, during which consumption of this category grew by 10 per cent compared to the same month the year before.

The association has estimated growth of 10 per cent this year, but in the event of Spain reaching the semi-final stage, this could go up further, to 15 per cent.

The Spanish market for appetiser food products grew by 1.2 per cent in 2015, reaching sales nearly €2 billion. In Spain, more than 90 per cent of the consumption of nuts, dried fruits, crisps and snacks is done in the home.
