Expoalimentaria To Showcase Market-Leading Innovations

Expoalimentaria, the most important international fair for food and beverages in Latin America, will take place on 25-27 September at the Jockey Exhibition Center, Lima, Peru, with the objective of highlighting the export capabilities of more than 600 Peruvian and international companies.

The objective of the fair, which is organised by ADEX and supported by public institutions such as Minagri, Mincetur, Produce, Promperu and RR.EE., is to contribute to the economy of the country, increase the network of contacts of Peruvian agro-exporters and strengthen the country's presence in the international market, as well as inform delegates about new technologies in the food industry.

The president of ADEX, Alfonso Velásquez Tuesta, explained that at the event – declared of 'National Interest' by the Government – more than 3,000 buyers from five continents will participate, including around 4,000 visitors from 80 countries, who will learn about foods such as avocado, maca, blueberries, quinoa, lucuma, chia, and others.

"It's a great opportunity for the 'Superfoods' brand to continue promoting," he said.

National Presence

The head of ADEX mentioned that the countries that will be present at the eleventh edition of the fair include Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Indonesia, Italy, Canada and China.

At the same time, some of the complementary activities that visitors can enjoy include the 'Tasting Room', 'Coffee & Cocoa Lounge', 'Innovation Room', the 'Demonstration Kitchen' and 'The Beer Corner'.

In the Demonstration Kitchen, international chefs from different countries that will be present at the fair will participate, showcasing the gastronomy of their cultures. Likewise, the Tasting Room will expand the variety of products to be exhibited and tasted, highlighting the export qualities of the products showcased at the fair.

Likewise, this year the fair will play host to the tenth edition of the Innovation Contest, which will be launched in May and seeks to promote ingenuity and business creativity.

Export Figures

According to the ADEX Data Trade Commercial Intelligence System, Peruvian agro-exports (traditional and non-traditional) totalled US $6,659 million at the end of last year.
