Coming Up In ESM Issue 3 2020

Copy Deadline: 23 April 2020
Goes to Press: 28 April 2020

For the third issue of the year, ESM is undertaking its biggest report on the European private label industry to date, reaching out to retailers across Europe to determine the trends, innovations and future prospects shaping this vibrant sector. In addition, we look at the latest trends in the Fresh Produce sector, examine the evolution of the Shop Fitting industry and a lot more besides.

The Private Label Issue

ESM's 'The Private Label Issue' (click here for more information)| will feature input from retailers across Europe, getting their perspective on the growth areas, untapped markets and unmissable opportunities within the private label industry at present, and asking them for their assessment of how the sector will develop as the decade progresses. We will also be speaking to noted industry experts to get their take on the challenges and opportunities facing the private label industry, and explore how the solid growth enjoyed by the sector can be maintained long into the future.

Fresh Produce

The Fresh Produce sector is a hotbed of innovation, in terms of new product innovation, supply chain efficiency, yield improvement and brand development. ESM investigates the importance of developing a winning fresh produce offering, as well as examining how retailers can exceed consumer expectations in this dynamic category. This comprehensive report will feature input from Rabobank, FMCG Gurus and Freshfel, the European Fresh Produce Association, among others.

Shop Fitting & Store Design

As consumer preferences change, so store design needs to evolve. The blurring of the lines between bricks and mortar and online retail, coupled with increased demand for greater customer experiences, is impacting how stores are developed and refurbished – regardless of the size or shape of your outlet, you should still be able to get noticed! ESM speaks to leading store design firms about the current trends.

EPOS and Point-of-Sale Technologies

EPOS and Point-of-Sale technologies are now an intrinsic part of the fabric of retail, with digital payments and loyalty programmes increasingly being utilised beyond the checkout, and customer data being used to develop more bespoke in-store experiences. ESM examines how these technologies are likely to evolve over the coming decade.

Frozen Food

The Frozen Food aisle has been in growth for the past number of years, amidst growing consumer demand for increased shelf-life, convenient, easy-to-prepare cooking options, and a wider range of meal solutions, in turn boosted by a more efficient supply chain structure. As the category has developed, so frozen suppliers have also sought to tap into growing trends such as healthy-eating and free-from, which in turn opens up opportunities for private label. ESM explores this growing segment.
