France's Intermarché And Netto To Eliminate Battery Eggs

It has been announced that Mousquetaires chains Intermarché and Netto will no longer sell eggs from caged chickens from 2025 onwards, with animal welfare becoming a higher priority for the chains.

This will be effective for the Mousquetaires brand Moisson from 2020, from which point the eggs in question will all be high-welfare (free range or organic).

Mousquetaires brands Netto and Top Budget, as well as Mousquetaires’ own-branded egg SKUs, will achieve this standard by 2025 at the latest, the French group has said.

Mousquetaires says these moves are responses to the growing demand among the French public for produce from animals of high-welfare conditions.
