French E-Cigarette Market Slowing Down

The most recent findings from the French analysis body Xerfi has shown that the rapid increase enjoyed by the e-cigarette market in France between 2012 and 2014 has begun to abate, LSA reports.

Xerfi has said that the “euphoria” surrounding the electronic cigarette boom in France is at last coming to a close in its study published this month. The report notes that at the apex of the increase in e-cigarettes’ popularity, two stores dedicated to their sale opened a day in France. Since January 2015, however, the French market has seen a slowing down, reflected in e-cigarette store closures.

The research body predicts the slump to continue during the immediate future, predicting a weak 2015 with sales dips reaching about ten per cent. The trend is partially attributable to French consumers returning to standard cigarettes.

However, with world prices of tobacco expected to rise in the next few years, the French e-cigarette sector could return to growth by 2018, Xerfi asserts.
