Supermarket watchdog Which? say Aldi have the tastiest mince pies of all this year. Priced at just €2.03m, this also makes them the cheapest.
Which? used a panel of experts to blind-taste each mince pie. They scored each pie on appearance, aroma, texture and taste.
"They had a lush and juicy filling and looked good" Which? says on their website.
Aldi's Specially Selected 6 Luxury Mince Pies triumphed over the likes of top UK brands like Selfridges, Tesco and Harrods.
Fortnum & Mason came last despite their pack of six mince pies costing £12.95. According to the panel, their pastry was "flat-tasting, soft and crumbly".
"We found the ones with the biggest price tags aren't always the best, with the supermarkets' own labels often beating the big brands and luxury retailers." Which? said to The Irish Examiner.
