Arla Now The World's Fourth Biggest Dairy Firm

Danish company Arla Foods has managed to ascend to fourth place in the global ranking of the world's biggest dairy firms published every two years by the IFCN Dairy Research Centre.

In 2015, Arla processed more than 14 million tonnes of dairy products.

The rest of the top ten is comprised by the following companies: Dairy Farmers of America, Fonterra, Groupe Lactalis, Nestlé, FrieslandCampina, Dean Foods, DMK, Saputo and California Dairies.

Three companies from outside the Western Hemisphere entered the list for the first time: Amul from India and Yili and Mengniu from China.

The IFCN report contains a detail analysis of confirmed data and comparable variables, which makes it a unique ranking in the dairy industry. It is a key tool for judging the industry and the perspectives of national production, as well as the status of the processing sector.
