Belgian retailer Delhaize has announced a series of changes to its executive committee, effective 1 January next year.
From the start of next year, the executive committee, operating under chief executive Xavier Piesvaux, will comprise Dieter De Waegeneer, EVP Operations (a new function that bundles the responsibilities between own and affiliated stores, logistics centres, supply chain and technical departments); Françoise Burlet, EVP Commerce (product, marketing, quality and store concepts); Els Steen, SVP Legal for Belgium and Central and South Eastern Europe; Thierry De Vleeschouwer, CIO for Belgium and Central and South-Eastern Europe; Siger Spaan, SVP Finance and Illya Van den Borre, SVP Human Resources and Corporate Affairs.
In addition, Marc Debussche, currently the group's EVP Product, Marketing, Quality & Store Concept will be retiring from his position on 31 December, while Kris Van Strydonck , SVP Strategy, Network Development & E-commerce will leave the company on 30 November, once the rescheduling of the powers in the Executive Committee has been completed.
Commercial Strategy
In a statement, Delhaize said that it wanted to thank Marc and Kris for their contribution to the company's performance.
"With these changes, Delhaize wants to speed up the execution of its new commercial strategy," said Xavier Piesvaux, Delhaize chief executive.
"We anticipate the continuing evolution in retail and place our customers and employees more than ever at the centre of our organisation."
