Carrefour Belgium Unveils First 'Pedestrian Drive' Outlet

Carrefour Belgium has unveiled its first 'pedestrian drive'-style outlet, at its Carrefour Express store at rue Froissart 93 in Brussels.

The pedestrian drive format, which the group has also introduced in France, is similar to traditional 'drive' outlets, in that shoppers place orders online before picking them up at the store – the difference being that it is aimed at walk-in customers, rather than those in vehicles.

Carrefour has said that a total of 10,000 SKUs are available using the service, up from 4,500 in a traditional Carrefour Express store, with a minimum order value of €30 applying to partake of the service.

Larger Reach

'Through this concept, Carrefour is seeking to reach a new type of clientele,' the retailer noted in a statement. 'City centres include more single-person households, and people that do not have motorised vehicles.'

Orders can be placed via the Carrefour Belgium website (www.carrefour.eu), as well as via its app, before noon from Monday to Saturday.
