Dutch Retail Trade Council Responds To Curfew Imposed By The Government

Members of the Raad Nederlandse Detailhandel (Dutch retail trade council) expect online services to operate at full speed amid the curfew announced by the government to contain the spread of the new coronavirus variant.

The trade body also anticipates distribution centres, transport, filling teams in open stores or closed stores that offer delivery services to operate normally.

It added that stores that are open, such as specialty stores, liquor stores and drugstores, can operate up to their current opening hours, ranging between 18:00 to 20:00 hours. This will allow customers to be home before 20:30.

Click and collect at hardware stores can also operate until 20:00 hours.

'Click And collect'

Members of the RND also hope that 'Click and collect' services will allow closed stores to resume operations in a responsible manner.

Click & Collect is allowed in all countries in Europe and helps retailers to maintain a bond with their customers up close.

The trade body also emphasised that it is vital to ensure that customers can purchase safely and socially through online and offline channels.
