Swiss dairy firm Emmi has announced the appointment of Jonas Leu as the head of its business division in America as part of a long-term succession plan.
He will assume the new role in 2022, replacing outgoing top boss Matthias Kunz.
Leu is an experienced dairy technologist and food scientist, who worked for the company in various roles since 1999 in Switzerland and abroad.
Presently, he is overseeing the merger of the Emmi subsidiaries in Chile in the capacity of managing director.
He holds a master’s degree in food science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH Zurich.
As the designated head of the division, he will be introduced to his responsibilities over the course of next year.
Initially, he will serve as a deputy to Matthias Kunz and gradually assume full responsibility for the division as a member of group management.
'Industry And Management Experience'
Urs Riedener, CEO of Emmi, commented, “Jonas Leu brings with him extensive industry and management experience and is a dynamic leader from within the company's ranks.
“He is ideally positioned to continue the strategically important and highly successful work done by Matthias Kunz in expanding our business in this growth region.”
Kunz joined the company’s group management in 2002 and has been instrumental in driving the company’s international business.
In 2014, he took over responsibility of the company's American business division, which went from strength to strength under his leadership and now accounts for around one-third of the Group’s total sales.
From 2022 onwards, he will continue to serve as a member of the extended group management and offer his services for strategic projects, the dairy giant added.
