FrieslandCampina Announces Partnership With United Dairymen Of Arizona

FrieslandCampina has announced a partnership with American dairy cooperative United Dairymen of Arizona (UDA) to step up the production of lactoferrin - a speciality ingredient required for early life nutrition products.

The partnership will result in the production of 10 tonnes of lactoferrin annually.

Commenting on the partnership, Kathy Fortmann, president of FrieslandCampina Ingredients, said, "Our technology and extensive experience, combined with the high-quality milk of UDA, will ensure a product that meets global quality and regulatory requirements for early life nutrition."

Consistent Milk Supply

UDA's dairy farms have a longstanding reputation for a consistent milk supply that will benefit the new joint venture for years to come, FrieslandCampina said.

CEO of UDA, Keith Murfield, added, "Partnering with FrieslandCampina has been an honour for our cooperative. We are very proud of our farmers for their commitment to animal care, without which we wouldn’t get such high-quality milk."

Lactoferrin is present in both cow’s milk and human milk, and studies show several potential health benefits, including anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
