Kesko Collaborates With Students For Ideas To Promote Sustainable Products

Finnish retail giant Kesko has participated in 10Days100Challenges innovation sprint to brainstorm new ways to increase the visibility of sustainable products in supermarkets.

The event was organised by the universities of Haaga-Helia, Laurea, and Metropolia in Helsinki.

Around 100 students participated in the 10-day event, offering solutions to challenges posed by companies including, among others, Microsoft, OP, Telia and Click Innovation.

Kesko's challenge for the event was addressed by 22 students operating in five teams.

Responsibility And Sustainability

Elaborating on the task, director of the supermarket chain, Anne Hujala, said, "We wanted to collaborate with students to get fresh new ideas on how to make aspects of responsibility and sustainability more visible to customers in our stores."

The winners were announced on 14 June, following a five-minute pitch by each team.

Kesko chose 'Team Responsibles' as the winner for presenting an idea that the retailer felt would provide distinct benefits for its customers.

Hujala commented, "Their idea best met the challenge proposition, and was the most versatile."

Elsewhere, another team working on Kesko's challenge, 4SC Kesko, was named the best participating team in the overall innovation sprint.
