Lidl Acquires Belvedere Site As Part Of Warehouse Extension Plans

Lidl has purchased a 10,890 square foot site in Belvedere, Greater London as part of its warehouse extension plans, according to reports.

The new site will operate alongside the retailer's current 312,153 square food distribution centre at the site, which currently employs 332 people, Retail Gazette reported.

Double Capacity

The acquisition will enable the discounter to almost double its capacity from the distribution centre.

"In addition to opening new warehouses, we have a development programme in place to strengthen our existing operations,” said Ingo Fischer, chief development officer, Lidl. “This will ensure that we are able to provide continued support to our current store network, whilst putting the infrastructure in place for future growth."

“In the last year we have opened our new distribution centres in Avonmouth and Doncaster, and are at the final stages of construction on our new distribution centre for Scotland.” he added.
