UK's Fresh Produce Consortium Announces New President

The Fresh Produce Consortium, the UK trade association for the fresh-produce and cut-flower industry, has unveiled Alan Forrester of Greenyard Fresh UK as its newly elected president.

Forrester replaces Jim Rogers, who has stepped down to the role of vice-president for six months, in order to assist with the transition.

Commenting on his appointment, Forrester said, “In these challenging times, it’s more important than ever that we get behind the industry trade association and provide a strong, influential voice in Brexit negotiations and other areas. The FPC plays a vital role, and I look forward to working with the board and to supporting Nigel [Jenney, CEO] and the team in the coming months.”

Additional Appointments

Elsewhere, Mike Parr has been elected as second vice-president, with other directors Veryan Bliss, Nigel Jenney and Martin Panter also voted in for a two-year period.

The FPC board is comprised of non-executive directors from across the fresh-produce sector, providing a comprehensive representation of the membership.

"We have a strong board, and the appointment of Alan as president and Mike as vice-president couldn’t be better," commented Jenney. "We thank Jim for his support and contribution as president over the past nine years, and we’re pleased he has agreed to remain as vice-president for a period.

"We have a lot of work to do in the coming months, and I very much look forward to progressing our influence in Brexit with the enthusiastic, proactive support of the board.”
