Glanbia Names Donard Gaynor As New Chairman

Dairy firm Glanbia has announced the appointment of Donard Gaynor as its chairman, effective 8 October 2020.

Gaynor will serve as the chairman of the company until no later than the AGM of 2022, Glanbia added.

He will succeed Martin Keane, who will remain on the board until his retirement at the AGM of 2021.

Keane commented, “It has been an honour to serve as chairman of Glanbia plc, I would like to thank Siobhán Talbot and my board colleagues for their support during my tenure as chairman.

“Since joining the board, Donard [Gaynor] has brought experience and energy to Glanbia and in his role as remuneration committee chair, he has led prior engagements with our shareholders. I know he will use those qualities and his experience to make an excellent chairman.”

'An Experienced Professional'

Gaynor is an experienced professional who joined Glanbia plc as a director in March 2013.

He is also the chairperson of its remuneration committee, a member of the audit committee and nomination and governance committee.

In December 2012, Gaynor retired from the premium spirits company Beam, Inc. as senior vice-president of strategy and corporate development.

He joined the company in 2003 as senior vice-president and managing director of its international division.

Before this, he held various senior executive leadership roles with The Seagram Spirits & Wine Group in New York and was also an audit client services partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York.

In November 2016, Gaynor was appointed chairman of Hazelwood Demesne Limited ‘The Lough Gill Distillery’ Company.

In addition, Gaynor is a fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Commenting on his appointment, Gaynor, said, “It is a privilege to be appointed chairman of Glanbia plc. I look forward to working with the Glanbia team and my board colleagues on the successful delivery of strategy and value creation for our stakeholders.
