Grupa Muszkieterów Posts 5.5% Increase In Turnover In Poland For FY 2018

Grupa Muszkieterów, the Polish arm of the Les Mousquetaires business, has posted a 5.5% year-on-year increase in turnover of PLN 400 million (€92.3 million) for the financial year 2018.

Turnover for the Intermarché banner, as well as its petrol station network, grew by 3.4% to PLN 5.16 billion (€1.2 billion).

Growth Drivers

For Intermarché, growth was driven by the launch of four outlets in Gniezno and Kosakawo near Gdynia, Zbylitowska Góra and Tarnowiec.

In 2018, Grupa Muszkieterów invested PLN 100 million in opening new stores, and offering better prices and promotions for clients.

It also strengthened its position in the fuel stations segment by opening three new filling stations in Rawa Mazowiecka, Konin, and Chodzież, as well as launching three charging stations for electric vehicles in Ostróda, Grajewo, and Knurów.

A 'Demanding' Year

General director of the group, Marc Dherment, said, "The year 2018 was demanding for the Intermarché network, both due to external conditions such as the introduction of trade restrictions on selected Sundays, as well as internal ones.

"Nevertheless, we have undertaken numerous activities in the field of pricing, assortment, and promotional policy, which we believe will improve results in the next quarters."

Double-Digit Growth

Bricomarché witnessed 10.3% growth amounting to PLN 2.3 billion (€530 million) for the 2018 fiscal year.

The home and garden supermarket chain has recorded double-digit growth for the past several years, the company said.
