ICA Sweden Launches Fruit And Veg Alternatives For Halloween

Swedish retailer ICA has created a monster-themed range of fruit and vegetable products, providing alternative treats for children this Halloween.

The range includes 'troll noses' (sweet potatoes), 'zombie brains' (cauliflower), and 'witches fingers' (purple carrots), as well as traditional seasonal produce such as pumpkins, satsumas and apples.

"Good food and exercise habits at an early age are the basis for better health," said Paula Frösell, dietician at ICA Sweden.

"Halloween, which is another celebration with a great focus on candy, gave us inspiration for a fun and frightening assortment with more healthy options."

Halloween Range

For the Halloween season, ICA says that it has specially grown 1,000 tonnes of Swedish pumpkins, 75 tonnes of carrots and 50 tonnes of blue potatoes.

The retailer's seasonal assortment contains a total of twelve fruit and vegetable products, which all feature 'playful' Halloween packaging.

For the three weeks that the products are on sale, ICA Sweden has transformed its fruit and vegetable departments into 'monster gardens' to promote the initiative.
