ICA Tests Convenience Format With New Pilot Store

Swedish retailer ICA is testing the convenience format with the opening of an 'ICA To Go' pilot store at a metro station in Hornstull, Stockholm.

The original pilot store will be closed, the Ahold-affiliated retailer said, and it is expected that the Hornstull outlet will be opened by the end of November.

Mats Munther, VP business development at ICA, said the closing of the store is "a natural market adjustment of the concept." He added, "We mainly operated the store in order to test our offering. We have learned a lot and now we have created the next generation of ICA to go." (22 Oct)
