Carrefour Launches Semi-Skimmed UHT Milk; Includes Fairer Remuneration

France-based retail giant Carrefour has added a new semi-skimmed UHT milk to its 'Filiére Qualité' (Quality Line) range.

Accompanying the launch is a commitment to provide fairer remuneration for its 326 partner producers.

Quality Line

Carrefour launched its Quality Line in 1992 to enforce strict quality standards on milk producers to obtain a better product.

The retailer has also agreed to pay up to €390 for 1,000 litres of milk with its 326 producers.

The move seeks to place farmers and consumers first, with quality products available at fair prices.

The retail chain has also laid out a number of requirements that the product must meet.

The cows must be fed a GMO-free diet (<0.9%), raised in compliance with strict animal welfare criteria, and have access to pasture for at least 120 days per year.

Carrefour has a long-standing commitment to ensuring quality food products, and this is the latest action to reach that goal.
