Cherkizovo Group To Expand Into The Meat Snack Market

Russian meat producer Cherkizovo Group will introduce its new meat snack product range in Russia this spring under the Cherkizovo Premium brand.

Meat snack products are gaining popularity amongst Russian consumers, with the category witnessing double-digit growth, the company added.

Pilot Project

The launch in spring is part of a pilot for Cherkizovo Premium meat snacks, with a mass-market rollout scheduled for autumn.

The range was developed based on consumer preferences and broken down into three groups: pork, chicken, and turkey snacks.

The snacks are made of cured and dried meat and intended as a convenient solution to satisfy mild hunger.

Sales of meat snacks in Russia have increased by roughly 30% per year, and the growth rates are set to remain high going forward, the meat producer said.

Cherkizovo Premium snacks are available in the form of long thin cured sausages (fuet). 

They contain natural spices and meat from the company’s farms and are free from soybeans or genetically modified organisms.

Primary Consumers

Research shows that people aged between 26 to 40 years with above-average income are the main consumers of snacks in Russia.

According to Ipsos data, most consumers eat meat snacks while watching films (51%) or as a way to fill up in between meals at home (47%) and outside (40%).
