The retail sector in Denmark remains nervous despite recording its biggest ever sales growth of 9.4% from April to May, according to a report by Dansk Erhverv.


Brewer Carlsberg has warned that is still to come after a 7% decline in first quarter sales, as increased beer sales in supermarkets failed to balance the closure of bars and restaurants during the coronavirus lockdown.


Food ingredients maker Chr Hansen has stuck to its sales forecast for the 2019/20 financial year despite the coronavirus outbreak, saying increasing at-home food consumption was boosting short-term demand.


Denmark's economy could shrink by between 3% and 6% this year as the country's businesses struggles with the effects of a lockdown to limit the spread of the new coronavirus, finance minister Nikolai Wammen has said.

Salling Group has donated DKK 5 million (€670,000) to a research project undertaken by four hospitals as to the effectiveness of face masks in protecting against COVID-19 infection.


Coop Denmark has given its tenants the option to postpone the payment of rent for three months in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Cost-cutting and price rises will help Maersk deliver higher first-quarter earnings than a year ago, the shipping giant has said, though it scrapped its full-year forecast due to uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Denmark has proposed an economic aid package worth nearly €5.4 billion to help small businesses cover most of the losses in revenue as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, its finance minister said.


Shipping giant Maersk has warned that the coronavirus outbreak would weigh on earnings this year, compounding the woes of a container shipping industry already subdued by trade wars and an economic slowdown.
