Danone, IDB Announce Growth Stimulus Project In Latin America

Danone has teamed up with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to create a partnership that will aim to stimulate economic growth in Latin America and the Caribbean.

According to Danone and the IDB, the partnership will last three years and includes five key areas of cooperation: promoting sustainable agricultural practices, supporting recycling programs, protecting watersheds, improving access to drinking water and reducing CO2 emissions.

Emmanuel Faber, CEO of Danone, said, "This partnership reflects our commitment to bringing life to the food revolution by developing innovative solutions that benefit Danone while protecting the planet and encouraging healthier food practices."

Prior Success

The partnership will build on the success of projects already co-financed and implemented by the IDB, Danone and the Danone Ecosystem Fund.

Among these was the Kiteiras micro-distribution project, which enabled the training of 2,000 women from disadvantaged backgrounds in Brazil, as well as recycling projects that improved the working conditions of over 3,700 recyclers in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina.

"Our collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank has already enabled us to develop our actions in Argentina and Brazil. This new partnership will allow us to go further, strengthening our presence and impact in the region," said Pascal de Petrini, Danone Ecosystem Fund.
